FIVE THINGS FOR A FRIDAY

This is the 301st post on the website - and we found out what the Directors have been chatting about this week!

GET YOUR HOUSING SURVEY IN

There is 1 week left to have your say on the affordable housing survey, you can fill it in here:

www.chtrust.co.uk/surveys

So far, the Community Housing Trust has had 47 responses from residents and 2 from local businesses. Don’t miss out on your chance to have your say!

The ‘Our Homes’ Community Action Group agreed to conduct a ‘Stratherrick, Foyers and Surrounding Areas Housing Survey’ and have commissioned Communities Housing Trust to do this on our behalf.  This Community Trust Board welcomed this as they felt it was important to gather your view and dig deeper on such a key and important subject that came through loud and clear in the Community Action Plan.  The results of this will evidence need on behalf of the community which will help with planning and funding.

GRANTS

We agreed 13 student grants and one sporting grant at the Board this week.  Details of grants you can apply for are here Grants | Stratherrick & Foyers Community Trust (stratherrickcommunity.org.uk)

ARTICLES CHANGE

The Trust AGM is on November 23rd.  We are asking for a small change to our articles at the event, which updates it in line with other organisations like ourselves.

The Board were requested to consider and approve the change to be put forward at the AGM in the Trust Articles (Article 23 and related clauses) to ensure that membership is automatic, subject to the 'qualifications of members' rather than being by approval of the board.โ€ฏ

Currently Article 23 reads: -

The directors shall consider each application for membership at the first directors’ meeting which is held after receipt of the application; the directors shall, within a reasonable time after the meeting, notify the applicant of their decision on the application

Article 23 shall now read (subject to membership approval at the AGM): -

The directors shall promptly reviewโ€ฏapplications for membership, from time to time, determining if the terms of Articles 15 to 20 apply and into which category of membership each applicant shall belong, and immediately thereafter shall approve any valid application provided the applicant is not excluded by virtue of Articles 15 to 20, and inform the applicant of the decision.โ€ฏ

CLARENDON PRESENTATION

The Board on Wednesday 5th October had a presentation from Clarendon who look after our investments.  This year, for the first time, our investment went down which is reflective of the challenging times we find ourselves in.  However the fund is far ahead of where we expected it to be.

DOES THAT SOUND OF INTEREST?

Does the discussions and decisions above sound of interest to you?  The you may want to be a Stratherrick and Foyers Community Trust Director.  The AGM is coming up (on 23rd November) and we are always after new Directors so contact us if interested at admin@sfctrust.org.uk and we will arrange for you to have an informal chat with one of the current Directors.
