The current board of Directors has been made aware of several health and safety issues within the Errogie Church. Sadly, due to the late timing of this discovery and the nature of the issues, we are unable to resolve them until the New Year. As a result, we regrettably cannot allow the use of the building for any community use until we are satisfied that it is safe and fully compliant with current regulations.
This has meant unfortunately that this weekend's Winter Solstice and the Christmas film screenings won't be able to be held in the church, but we are working with the organisers to move them to another venue. We will advertise this as soon as we can. It does also mean that the planned Hogmanay party cannot take place in the church. We have also offered help to rearrange the venue for this but that decision will of course be totally up to the wonderful volunteers that were going to be running it.
Please be assured that in the New Year we will be working with staff, the lead director, the steering group and our new CEO to ensure that the required works take place as soon as possible to ensure that the building can be used again. We will also be examining procedures and processes surrounding our estate to ensure an instance like this does not happen going forward.
We very much appreciate and value the work and creativity that has gone in so far to this building from community volunteers. Please bear with us as we are firming up on our building's safety as part of our commitment to the community.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and hope you understand that we must prioritise safety.
If you have an event booked in December or January and you haven't heard from a member of staff, please send an email to sharon@sfctrust.org.uk. We can also help you find an alternative venue if required.
